FAQ:

Who are you?

My name is Caitlin Hsu (she/her/hers). I’m a writer, editor, artist, graphic designer and all-around cool guy.

What are you?

Currently, I’m working as an editorial assistant for PaperCity Magazine in Houston, Texas.

I graduated from New York University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture, and Communications with double minors in Digital Design and Art and Journalism.

At NYU, I served as the Publishing Editor of Under the Arch, the creative magazine of the Washington Square News. I was also a publicity coordinator for the Collegiate Association for Artists of Color and a social media and marketing intern at Sutton Place Psychiatry.

Sometimes, I play musical instruments and bother my cats.

And my parents are from Taiwan, if that’s what you’re asking.

When are you?

I’m 23 years old. I dress like a person from the 80s and have the general joint health of a person in their 80s.

Where are you?

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, but I moved to New York City for college in 2018. After graduating, I moved back to Houston, where I currently live. At the moment you are reading this, I am probably traveling in the wrong direction toward a destination I go to every week.

Why are you?

The long answer is that art and creativity have always been the foremost parts of my identity. Since picking up a handful of colored pencils and scratching out my first “book” when I was five years old, I knew that I wanted to spend my life making the world more beautiful, exciting, and thought-provoking. In all the work I do, my hope is to inspire people to defy conventions and freely express themselves through whatever means are available to them. I also want to use my voice and the materials at my disposal to advocate for those who have to scream to be heard.

The short answer is that I didn’t want to go to engineering school.
